Local council awards £300m data centre contract

A 6MW "carbon friendly" data centre is expected to begin construction this year, and the private sector may foot the cost.

An English council has awarded a £300 million ($399 million) contract for a data centre site that could see the private sector foot the bill, shortly after it asked the government to help it meet a budget shortfall.
