neocloud
Not content with investing simply investing billions into AI and chip companies, Japanese holding company Softbank is throwing its hat into the neocloud ring to make use of its US data centres.
The company formed a new subsidiary called SB Neo to sell access to its 10-gigawatt AI infrastructure in the US, with ownership split evenly between Softbank Group and its telco subsidiary Softbank Corp.
Softbank Corp CEO Junichi Miyakawa said the company was already “making steady progress toward securing 10 gigawatts of power” in the US and planned to begin building data centres in Japan “as soon as preparations are in place.”
