The US Government has lifted export controls to bring Anthropic’s Fable 5 and Mythos 5 models back online, but questions linger around tighter safeguards and assessing future jailbreaks.

Fable 5, the public version of Anthropic’s much-hyped Mythos model, was re-released June 30 with a warning that new guardrails will likely flag “benign requests more often during routine coding and debugging tasks.”

The company said Fable 5 had been given a “safety margin," the level at which prompts are flagged as malignant, that was “much larger” than for previous models after Amazon reported it had bypassed certain safeguards.
