Cybersecurity company Zscaler is “accelerating” investment into local data centres in Europe amid an “unprecedented” push for digital sovereignty from European politicians, it revealed at its annual Zenith Live event.

Growing political and commercial interest is leading the zero trust security company to expand its number of data centres across Europe it said, but warned against “overregulation” of the tech industry to address security concerns.

Speaking at the EMEA Zenith Live event in Prague, CEO Jay Chaudry told The Stack that overly burdening vendors “slows down innovation, slows down adoption” and warned that often “regulators don’t even understand these new technologies.”
