Data centre operator Equinix is looking for a new Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), six months after its former CISO left the company.
Equinix runs over 260 data centres. It appointed a new CEO in Adaire Fox-Martin in June 2024. The highly active company (56 major projects underway across 24 countries) is undergoing a broad leadership shakeup.
The company hired former BT CIO Harmeen Mehta as Chief Digital and Innovation Officer (CDIO) effective April 2025. The new CISO – on a salary range of $332,000-$498,000 (£251,000-£377,000) – will report to Mehta.
Equinix describes the role as “hybrid” and advertises it as being in San Francisco or London. It wants a security chief with an “effective communication style that is direct, structured, and succinct.” (No waffling on about obscure CVEs or the details of ISO 27001, you boring b*stards.)

- "Lead the modernization and simplification of the security environment to support Equinix’s digital transformation agenda. Keep us secure but allow us to innovate."
- "Embed “secure-by-design” principles into software development, infrastructure provisioning, and vendor management."
- "Collaborate with technology and business leaders to integrate security considerations into digital initiatives, cloud strategies, emerging technologies, and operational processes."

The role would be a fascinating one for an ambitious CISO with an appetite for building security controls for a firm supporting global critical infrastructure at scale.
Former CIO Milind Wagle left Equinix at the end of September after 14 years at the firm. He is now CIO at robotic surgery startup Intuitive.
Former CISO Michael Montoya left Equinix on November 8 after five years. He is now COO at cybersecurity firm BlueVoyant. Nicole Collins, EVP of Business Operations at Equinix, took over as interim CIO. Greg Ogle, VP of global IT infrastructure, took over as interim CISO at Equinix.
