Dell said it plans pull the plug on thousands of legacy applications and switch to a new single enterprise platform in a one-day swap over.

On May 3, Dell's central corporate functions and PC side will have an entirely new way of working, COO Jeff Clarke vowed this week in an internal memo seen by Business Insider.

Not business function by business function, or system by system, but in a one-day cutover from a vast sprawl of legacy applications to the "One Dell Way" that calls for standardisation above all else.
