Meta announced Monday that it has hired MongoDB CEO Chirantan "CJ" Desai to lead the newly created Meta Enterprise Platform, reporting directly to founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg. "Meta Enterprise Platform will use our strengths that few other companies have: advanced models, leading agents, large-scale infrastructure, and years of working closely with many businesses," Zuckerberg said in a statement.
Desai had been CEO of MongoDB since last November, when he was hired to replace longtime CEO Dev Ittycheria. Ittycheria, who moved onto the database company's board at that time, will return as interim president and CEO until MongoDB hires a permanent replacement.
MongoDB's stock fell nearly 20% at the news before recovering slightly midday Monday.
