Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said he saw “accelerating growth” from cloud migration over the past quarter – with Nestlé moving “200 SAP instances, 10,000-plus servers, 1.2 petabytes of data to Azure” in what he described as one of the “largest and most successful migrations in business history.

Switzerland’s Nestlé, founded in 1866, owns 2,000 brands in 185 markets and more than 300 factories. It exited six “aging” data centres as part of the move – citing “The Azure roadmap for 24-terabyte VMs, critical for supporting our very large SAP systems” as among the incentives for the migration; it can now run SAP S/4HANA across 185 countries, it said.
