New Vera standalone CPU sets NVIDIA up to be "the world leading CPU supplier", claims Huang.
NVIDIA predicts its GPUs will generate $1 trillion in revenue between 2025 and 2027, but CEO Jensen Huang has already set his sights on the CPU market.
The company closed off another record earnings period with $81.6 billion in revenue for Q1 of fiscal 2027, with CPUs representing a notable chunk of revenue, which is projected to grow to $20 billion by year end.
In its Q1 earnings call on Wednesday, CFO Colette Kress said Vera arrived “just in time” for the growing demand in CPUs driven by agentic AI and reinforcement learning.
Both Kress and Huang noted “every major hyperscaler and system maker” was partnering with NVIDIA to deploy the chips.
