Salesforce is recovering from a sweeping global outage that has left customers grappling with severe delays, errors and an inability to access key services.
The incident hit at 8:50am BST on 16 September - incidentally, as tens of thousands gathered in San Francisco for day two of the CRM platform's annual Dreamforce conference.
The company said that most customers were coming out of impact by 3:56pm BST. Salesforce has isolated the source of the problem to an issue with an internal login service, consuming available server resources.
It is perhaps Salesforce's most significant global service disruption since May 2021, when a DNS failure paralyzed large part of its platform for around five hours.
Like that outage, today's blackout has exposed how a failure of one component can compromise its wider estate.
