If the neoclouds want to build lasting businesses that outlive the AI boom, they'll need to offer more than just GPUs for rent. Most companies need help running distributed AI workloads at scale, and Nscale just acquired the company behind a popular open-source tool for doing just that.

The UK neocloud announced Thursday that it has acquired Anyscale, founded by a team of engineers that developed the Ray project. Terms of the deal were not disclosed; Bloomberg reported that Nscale forked over $1.65 billion for the startup, which had raised $259 million in funding.
